Volunteers

Lake Chelan Community Hospital serves hundreds of patients and families.  All of these individuals, in some way, benefit from the helping hands of volunteers.

Our strong core of volunteers serve for many reasons.  Some volunteer because they feel compassion.  Others desire to assist in important matters.  And some find fulfillment in the giving of their expertise for the good of others.

What type of person is a hospital volunteer?  The truth is that there is no one type.  At Lake Chelan Community Hospital, you’ll find volunteers from all walks of life – high school and college students, retirees, working people, former employees, people with disabilities.  All have found volunteer positions that are right for them.

We ask that you come to Lake Chelan Community Hospital with a positive attitude about service, an ability to learn and follow direction and the desire to commit to a volunteer position. We do require that volunteers be at least 14 years old and are able to communicate clearly.

There’s a volunteer position that’s just right for you!  We have many activities and services needing volunteers.

• Assisting staff and visitors on nursing units
• Greeting visitors in waiting rooms and at information desks
• Fulfilling clerical duties in many departments
• Escorting patients through the Hospital
• Listening to and assisting concerned visitors
• Being a presence with someone who is dying
• Walking, talking or being available to others in need
• Delivering mail to the many departments
• Participating during Hospital week and other facility functions
• Providing entertainment to inpatients

By becoming a volunteer at Lake Chelan Community Hospital, you will make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. You will also support the work of the hospital’s staff and contribute to our healing environment.

Our volunteers assist in many, many ways--some interact directly with patients and families and some do not.  We have positions that involve a lot of walking and some where you remain in one place for your shift.  We try to accommodate your interests and talents while keeping in mind the needs of our hospital. If you wish to work alongside the Lake Chelan Community Hospital staff, we will work with you to find the right position and the right schedule.

There are opportunities on evening and weekend shifts, as well as regular day shifts.  We’ll take into account whether you have a job or other commitments and the amount of time you have available.

Are you ready to get involved?  Would you like to be part of our team?  We welcome your expertise and assistance.

The next step is up to you!  If you are interested in the various volunteer opportunities at Lake Chelan Community Hospital or becoming a member of the Guilds, please call Carolyn Hood in Human Resources at 509-682-3300 or e-mail her at chood@lcch.net.

“A hundred years from now, it won’t matter how much money you had, what kind of house you lived in, or what kind of car you drove.  What will matter is if you reached out a helping hand to someone who needed it.”
